The Committee’s intent has both been to support and enhance the spiritual growth of the directors and staff working within the pastoral care departments of our member facilities and to provide practical training and skills, through a workshop format, for pastoral care volunteers. The terms of reference for the Pastoral Care Committee were proposed and accepted by the CHABC board of directors in the Spring of 1997. They are presented here: Purpose:
~ The Pastoral Care Committee is responsible to the CHABC Board of Directors. It offers an avenue for strengthening the commitment to Pastoral Care with both Catholic and multifaith pastoral presence. Among its members, it provides peer support. Membership:
~ Members - One representative from each CHABC member facility. ~ Ex officio - The CHABC Executive Director. Organization:
Goals:
~ To provide opportunities for our members to share experiences relevant to our strong commitment to Pastoral Care within our institutions. ~ To strengthen the ties between our facilities and the dioceses and to explore new models of pastoral ministry in collaboration with our parishes, local faith groups and communities. ~ To provide educational opportunities for Pastoral Care workers and volunteers in our facilities, our parishes and our communities. ~ To set annual objectives.
