Volunteers and the sisters of St. Vincent de Paul touch patients and staff with the strength of their love and compassion.

The Committee’s intent has both been to support and enhance the spiritual growth of the directors and staff working within the pastoral care departments of our member facilities and to provide practical training and skills, through a workshop format, for pastoral care volunteers.

The terms of reference for the Pastoral Care Committee were proposed and accepted by the CHABC board of directors in the Spring of 1997. They are presented here:

Purpose:
~ The Pastoral Care Committee is responsible to the CHABC Board of Directors. It offers an avenue for strengthening the commitment to Pastoral Care with both Catholic and multifaith pastoral presence. Among its members, it provides peer support.

Organization:
~ The committee shall meet at least four times a year. Other meetings may be held at the call of the Chair. It is also the intention that a retreat for Pastoral Care workers will be held once a year.

Goals:
~ To explore issues related to Pastoral Care and to provide recommendations to the CHABC board relevant to its continuous dialogue with member institutions and government bodies.

~ To provide opportunities for our members to share experiences relevant to our strong commitment to Pastoral Care within our institutions.
